Electrolube FSC is a modified silicone conformal coating sold in small brush-cap bottles, and this video makes the case for keeping a bottle on the bench even if you never mass-produce boards. The appeal is versatility: it is thin enough to flow into tight gaps around fine-pitch parts, it cures at room temperature without special equipment, and it stays flexible rather than turning into a brittle shell that cracks and traps moisture underneath.

The practical arguments here matter more than the datasheet numbers. Silicone-based coatings are far more forgiving to rework than acrylics or urethanes, so a repaired board can be recoated locally without stripping the whole assembly. That flexibility also suits hand-built projects, one-off repairs and anything destined for a damp, dusty or vibrating environment: outdoor sensor boards, automotive and marine electronics, garage and workshop gear, and boards that will see condensation cycles. Fluorescence under UV is the other quietly useful feature, since it lets you confirm coverage and spot missed areas before the board goes into service.

Worth keeping in mind before you buy: silicone residue is notoriously good at spreading, so keep it away from areas you intend to solder later, and mask connectors, switches, relay contacts and any mating surfaces. Curing takes patience compared with UV-cure products, and thin coats built up in layers give better results than one heavy pass. For hobbyists and repair technicians, a small bottle lasts a long time and quietly extends the life of boards that would otherwise corrode.
