The Long Wei PS-3010DF sits in the crowded budget bench supply market, offering 30V at 10A (a nominal 300W) from a compact switching design rather than the heavy linear transformer builds that dominated this price bracket a few years ago. That trade off is the whole story of this review: you get far more power per pound and per kilogram, but switching topology brings ripple, noise and transient behaviour that deserve close scrutiny before it goes near sensitive analogue or MCU work.

Testing covers the basics buyers actually care about: how closely the front panel readback matches an external meter across the voltage and current ranges, how tightly the output holds up when a DC load is stepped from light draw to full current, and what the output looks like on a scope in both constant voltage and constant current modes. Recovery time after a load step matters a lot in practice, since a slow supply can dip enough to reset a microcontroller or upset a regulator you are trying to characterise. Ripple is measured rather than guessed at, which is the fairest way to judge whether the switching penalty is acceptable.

The teardown side looks at construction quality, the flyback based topology, heatsinking and airflow, and how honest the 300W rating really is under sustained load.
