SDG #298 MiniWare L1060 60V 10A 100W Electronic Load

The MiniWare MDP-L1060 packs a 60V, 10A, 100W electronic load into a chassis barely larger than a deck of cards, and the review focuses on whether that miniaturisation costs anything in real use. Construction is the expected MiniWare standard: full metal body, twin cooling fans behind a machined grille, a large copper heatsink carrying the MOSFETs on the underside of the main board, and a small internal lithium cell so the unit can be woken without USB-C power. In practice that battery is more of a convenience than a feature to rely on, since sustained loading with the fans running will drain it quickly.

All four standard modes are exercised: constant current, constant voltage, constant resistance and constant power. CC, CV and CR behave predictably, with the encoder giving fine adjustment and a coarse jump mode via the set button. Constant power is where the unit stumbles. Response to a changing input voltage lags by roughly a second, and a rapid voltage increase caused the load to shut off entirely, which is worth knowing if you plan to load anything with a moving source voltage.

Accuracy testing against a bench supply and multimeter shows a consistent low bias on both voltage and current readings, on the order of 100mV at around 10V and a few milliamps at low currents. It is repeatable rather than random, so it would be correctable if a calibration routine exists; none is documented in the manual supplied.

The wireless link to the MDP-01 display module works well for real-time graphing and remote set point changes, and usefully it is optional rather than required.
